Katie + Peter Wedding | The Cheney Place Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer |

Is there anything better than a wedding with apple blossoms? Okay well they were really cherry blossoms but since I didn’t know the difference between the two I figure most other people won’t either. So we will just go with apple blossoms. They only bloom for a short period of time every year and you really never know when they will bloom. This year I thought that they would for sure be perfect for Katie and Peter’s spring wedding. I was watching them for two weeks just waiting and was super excited when the timing seemed to be perfect! But mother nature decided to only let them bloom for a few short days. We missed most of the bloom but luckily the cherry trees were blooming and let me say, wow! I think I like cherry blossoms better. Two gorgeous people totally in love surrounded by amazing pink and white blossoms!! Yes please!! So needless to say, the beginning of May is my absolute favorite time of the year. The trees are all blooming, flowers and spring is everywhere and on Katie and Peter’s wedding day it was no exception.  Katie and Peter were married at their family church at Cornerstone Church in Caledonia with rocking reception at The Cheney Place with the tunes played on the piano by the awesome guys of Main Street Dueling Piano.  The day was full of love, family, friends and of course my favorite, Katie and Peter. These two are just madly in love to the point where you have to tell them to stop kissing in pictures. Seriously, they wouldn’t stop!  So enjoy these two love birds and their gorgeous wedding day:)

Flashback to August 2012- Jill + Adam Married | Pentwater Wedding Photographer |

Okay I know what you are thinking, August 2012!! Really!! Yes I am just posting on my blog a wedding from almost a year ago. Where have I been, what in the heck have I been doing? Well ignoring my blog is what I have been doing. I really struggle with writing for the blog for some reason. If you know me at all, than you know that I am not short on words and I have no problems expressing myself. But when it comes to writing about other people, their amazing days and well my thoughts…. I just freeze!!  I’ve been wanting to post but I just felt completely overwhelmed with things that were going on and blogging was the last thing on my mind. Well a lot has changed in the last few months and I really want to show off a few of these amazing weddings from the second half of 2012. I can’t showcase every wedding, so I’m going to pick just a few that I think you are going to just love, I know I do!!  I might even mash a few together but not this first one.

Jill + Adam were married on an amazingly gorgeous Saturday in August on a Pentwater Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. I meet the girls at the salon in Ludington and like I usually do, I jumped right in. First it was to do Jill’s makeup and than I did a few of the bridesmaids. So yes, I love every aspect of a wedding day, especially the makeup (and the flowers, and hair, and the cake…).  I’m not afraid to step out of my photographers box and help, it’s really what I do best! So anyway back to the wedding. I’m not going to bore you with too many details other than the fact the details were ridiculous! Adam’s mom took charge right away on the planning.  I don’t think I have ever heard of a mom stripping bark off of birch trees to make birch cones, but that’s what she did. Kathy made all of the centerpieces and decorations, I was completely blown away. I mean ever since their wedding, I have been scouting out birch trees to try and make my own birch cones. That is one talented mama! Besides the beautiful decor the day was just as relaxed and easy going as you could imagine. Not once was I worried about timelines, if I got the “right” shots, uncooperative wedding party… it was seriously a dream wedding!  That really says a lot about Jill and Adam, they are so laid back, relaxed and completely the sweetest two people you could ever meet. Oh and totally in love:)Okay I say this every time, I’ll stop babbling now. On with one of my favorites from last year (okay they all rocked, seriously they did!).
